6 Tips to Think About When Designing an L-Shaped Kitchen Layout

l shaped kitchen design

In fact two-toned kitchen cabinets is looking to be a huge kitchen trend this year. The L-shaped kitchen layout is best in long, thin rooms, where space for an island or cabinetry on the opposing wall may not be possible. L-shaped layouts might be the perfect narrow kitchen ideas, generally consisting of one longer run of units and a shorter return.

Incorporate an L-shaped layout in a large kitchen

It has beige Tuscan tiles for its floors and the backsplash which complements the antiqued off-white cabinets. Still wondering whether an L-shaped kitchen layout will work best in your space? If you have room to spare, a double L-shaped kitchen layout presents plenty of opportunities for efficient work triangles, large prep areas, and workflows optimized for multiple cooks.

Tips to Think About When Designing an L-Shaped Kitchen Layout

Kitchen trends are constantly changing – think broken-plan kitchens and zoning – yet classic arrangements that are designed to be ergonomic are still at the heart of the modern kitchen. If you enjoy cooking with a partner, family or friends, then an L-shaped kitchen could be the perfect choice for you. Open shelving at the end of the L gives an airy, spacious feel to this narrow kitchen. The work triangle is still used, but it’s not as dominant as it once was; there is a move to a more linear approach in modern kitchen ideas, inspired by the long work benches of the restaurant kitchen.

Factor in an island, if space allows

In fact, a kitchen cart will mimic this look but has the added benefit of being able to be moved. Some, like the Forhoja, £129, Ikea, have wheels, making moving them around even easier. Remember, you can use the RoomSketcher App to speed up the process and quickly compare all the options. Another great way to maximize storage capacity is to make the most of corners. It’s where the family gathers to catch up, guests congregate to chat, and our kids sometimes do their homework.

It’s absolutely essential to create a flexible, comfortable, and efficient environment for the multi-purpose uses of the kitchen. The ability to try out various layouts to find out what truly works reduces the pressure to get your kitchen right first time. Keep the cooking and kitchen chores tightly together in an L, and let the rest of a large room be given over to family life. An efficient way to do this is to create zones for each area, with everything needed for prep and cooking in one, and table linen and crockery in the other. “By dividing the kitchen into specific ‘zones’ for prepping, cooking, and cleaning, you can enhance efficiency,” says Bob.

Maximise storage

This modern culinary space combines plain finishes with wood tone finishes to give the space a variety of colors and textures. Most of the cabinets are laminated in an off-white color with minimalist cabinet and drawer pulls. Plain mint green laminates were also used as well as dark-stained oak laminate finish. Another benefit of it is that it contributes visual aesthetic to your home as a well-designed island can serve as a stunning focal point or main attraction to a space.

The choice of light and dark tiles, which work to separate the cooking and prep zones, provides a stark, modern contrast to the more traditional cabinet design. By design, an L-shaped layout limits you to only two rows of upper and lower cabinets. Compared to U-shaped or G-shaped designs, this can lead to limited storage options. Before you dive right in and commit to the L-shape, it’s worth considering some of the alternative kitchen layouts.

Pros of L-shaped Kitchens

Elevate the style of your L-shaped kitchen with stunning kitchen backsplash ideas that will make your space sizzle. Make the most of all the snug corner spaces in your L-shaped kitchen with clever small kitchen storage solutions. Below, we share our favorite L-shaped kitchens with islands that are as beautiful as they are functional.

Create a sense of space

An island offers even more cabinet and countertop space, plus an added seating area for quick meals and entertaining. When designing a functional kitchen, the ‘working triangle’ should be kept in mind - that is, the distance between your sink, stove and fridge. An L-shaped kitchen lends itself perfectly to this triangular tip, being two sides of a triangle to begin with. An L-shaped layout works best in small and medium sized spaces, which fly closer to the work triangle efficiency guideline of spreading workstations at no more than 1200mm apart. A great kitchen is not all about rules though, it’s equally about how that space feels and inspires you to create fabulous food. This collection brings ideas for cabinet placement, shelving designs, statement backsplashes, eating areas and more.

And who knows, maybe after a few years with the fridge you'll be inspired to go bolder with your decorating decisions. We hope we have inspired you to create the perfect L-shaped kitchen — an inviting and efficient place to cook, entertain and just hang out. To make life easier, why not plan your kitchen design first using the RoomSketcher App?

In the ground floor apartment of this Georgian property, the kitchen has been totally reconfigured to become a contemporary kitchen diner – with an L-shaped island taking center stage. The simple, unfussy dynamic of an L-shaped kitchen allows you to experiment with color. Play around with pastels, neutrals or deep jewel-like tones on cabinet fronts, kitchen countertop ideas, wall colors and tiles for an individual look. Two tone kitchens, sticking to two shades, will help keep the look streamlined and sophisticated. The dark, earthy hues on the base units ground the kitchen, especially when paired with the soothing pale sage on the walls.

As the Collector approaches them, King appears and convinces him to stop the Draining Spell. After he does so, the Collector insists they play "owl house" and begins to deconstruct the skull. As her friends cross through the portal to the Human Realm, Luz insists she stay behind to help to take care of the Collector, however, King insists she go and, after thanking her for being his big sister, he blasts her and her friends through the portal. Separated from their loved ones, Luz takes her friend to her house where her mother tearfully embraces her. At the factory, the twins and King separate from the main group with Gus disguising himself, Luz, Amity, Willow, and Hunter as Coven Scouts as they look for Amity's parents.

Learning more spells and starting at Hexside

After the party, she watches an entry where Philip mentions someone named "the Collector". After learning about time pools from Eda, Luz gets help from Lilith to try and find them. Their search eventually brings them to a beach, where there initially appears to be nothing.

Principal Bump

In the gym, Amity explains that every year a monster that can shapeshift into one's worst fear, Grometheus the Fear Bringer, tries to break out and terrorize the Boiling Isles and Bump holds a dance to lighten the mood. As Amity explains that grom royalty is tasked with stopping Grometheus, and says her fear is embarrassing. When Luz goes to the library to deliver some of Eda's books and finds Amity reading to children, she tries again to fix things, but Amity refuses to do so. Luz there meets Amity's older siblings, Edric and Emira Blight, who also have a bad relationship with Amity, and they invite her to have fun, but Amity has them expelled from there. Edric and Emira tell Luz that they will come back at night for the Wailing Star that will happen that night, and they invite her to go with them, and Luz accepts when she sees that befriending them can be the way to befriend Amity. That night, they sneak into the library and discover that the Wailing Star gives life to the books, taking advantage of that to have fun.

Gus Porter

By the time Luz comes back months later, Camila realizes her mistake and begins trying to rectify it—due to Luz's mental health gravely suffering between wanting to keep her promise and her guilt for unintentionally aiding Belos in causing the Day of Unity. However, Luz has come to the decision of staying in the Human Realm for good, on the belief that all of her mistakes only made things worse for her friends. Eventually, Camila confesses her own fair share of mistakes, and tells Luz that the one thing she regrets the most is being so protective that she tried changing her daughter to be someone different, thus making her feeling ashamed of herself. After hearing her mother accept her for who she is at heart, Luz is touched by Camila's words and tears up, finally realizing that her deepest wish is to be understood by everyone. This enables her palisman egg to hatch, and she gains Stringbean as her partner.

Return to the Demon Realm

It is shown in "Lost in Language" that Luz doesn't mean any ill-will towards Amity, and tries to make peace with her many times. Amity seems to acknowledge her attitudes towards Luz beforehand, and at least promises to think on them after Luz apologizes for reading her diary and lets her borrow her fifth Azura book. It is shown in "Adventures in the Elements" that Luz and Amity have become closer, with Amity putting in the effort to be friendlier. By the end of the same episode, Luz wants them to create their own club called the Azura Book Club.

While Hunter, Gus, Amity, and Willow were making themselves a home, Luz was looking at some photos and apologized to her mother for running away and everything, but her mother comforts her. It is also revealed that Luz has become so traumatized by her time in Belo's mindscape. Luz eventually decides to help King find his people, only to learn that he is the child of the Titan that makes up the Boiling Isles. She prepares to help the resistance, known as the CATs (Covens Against the Throne), to stop Belos and the Day of Unity once and for all.

Unbeknownst to them, the Collector and Belos, possessing Raine, watch them from afar. The group awakens within the Detention Pit and Kikimora jumps down in her Abomatron to finish them off. After Camila fumbles with an ice glyph, she and Luz get separated from Amity and Mattholomule. Luz uses an invisibility glyph to escape with her mother and they hide after making it outside.

Upon reaching the bookstore, they are disheartened to learn the signing has been canceled. After questioning their next move, they see the author and chase her to a drainage pipe. When they catch her, they are shocked to discover she is Tinella Nosa and learn that Tibbles found a box of the books on the beach one day and has been trying to sell them, however, Amity was the only person buying the books. As they head back, Amity tries to cheer up a dejected Luz and they decide to turn their book club into a writing club. Upon seeing Willow, Gus, Viney, and Skara, the teenagers explain what they were up to and show Amity and Luz a photo they took earlier in the day with Hunter, shocking both girls.

Before he passed away, her father gave Luz her first Azura book, which she quickly grew to love and treasure after reading it. After Luz's father passed away, she and her mother started picking flowers for each other on the anniversary of his death. In "Elsewhere and Elsewhen", Luz and Lilith use time pools to travel back to the Deadwardian Era in order to meet Philip Wittebane, who they don't know at the time would later become Belos, in order to get information on how to make a portal to the Human Realm. When Luz first sees Philip being harassed by two thugs, she immediately steps in to defend him. So, in order to get his attention, Luz offers to help him find the Collector. After arriving at a cave, Luz shows Philip the light glyph, and is surprised and excited to learn that he uses glyphs as well.

In "Reaching Out", Luz tries sending messages to Hunter on Penstagram, hoping that she can get more information out of him regarding Belos. However, Hunter easily gets annoyed by this and demands that she leave him alone before accidentally sending her a picture of flapjack sleeping. In "Through the Looking Glass Ruins", the twins seem to be aware of Luz's crush on Amity, leaving the two alone together when they start blushing. Later, when Luz arrives at Blight Manor in order to tell Amity that she got her job at the library back, they can be seen watching the two of them, with Edric noting Amity's bold move of giving Luz a kiss on the cheek. In "Eclipse Lake", it's shown that Luz had given Amity a game device to send her messages using a variety of symbols. As Luz is sick with the common mold, Amity decides to go find Titan's Blood at Eclipse Lake along with Eda and King.

Some of the activities the duo did include going for a swim and drinking milkshakes together. Luz also introduced Amity to the non-hostile rain of the Human Realm, the two ended up twirling together and embracing each other. Amity noticed Luz's frowned expression, prompting her to cast a light spell for her. In "Clouds on the Horizon", Luz gets a message from Amity saying that she's been grounded and that she needs her to come right away. After she and King meet up with Willow, Gus, and Hunter, they head to Blight Manor in order to rescue Amity.

Manny Noceda

By this point, Luz's earlier insecurities and low self-esteem transformed into an intense, unhealthy sense of self-loathing, believing herself to be responsible for all of her friends and family's suffering, to the point of furiously cursing her very existence. In addition, Luz also blamed herself for nearly every mistake or hindrance that she and her friends came across, even when they weren't her fault. Multiple times Luz has shown herself to be exceptionally brave and heroic, risking her life on several occasions to protect others, especially those she loves.

Role in the series

When they are cornered by the three groups pursuing each of them, she switches the three back to their original bodies, and switches the bodies of the pursuers. She has also become much more confident in herself as she continues to pursue her dream of becoming a witch, no longer looking down on herself as she did years prior. Because of this, Luz abandoned all pretense she once held of permanently leaving the Demon Realm, instead now being able to happily travel between realms and regularly visiting her loved ones on the Isles before staying there once again to attend college. However, behind much of her optimism and creativity, Luz possesses deep insecurities due to the years of ostracism she endured in the Human Realm before arriving in the Boiling Isles. This constant rejection from her peers, along with her inability to make friends, has resulted in Luz developing underlying self-esteem issues which will occasionally manifest. In "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door", it was implied that Luz also was bullied by other kids for her inability to fit in, which possibly served to reinforce her fear of other teens.

King

Luz and her friends manage to convince Boscha and the rest of the school to turn on her, resulting in her defeat once again.[17] In the epilogue, Kikimora is seen helping to rebuild the Boiling Isles, possibly as penance for her misdeeds. The Collector takes King as his personal playmate while turning most of the Boiling Isles' residents into puppets. Showing sympathy for him, they take him on a tour of the Boiling Isles to the sites of past adventures so they can help him understand true friendship. When Belos possesses the Titan's heart and infects the Boiling Isles, Luz sacrifices her life to save the Collector, who becomes remorseful while realizing the fragility and value of life. After Luz is restored to life by a repentant Titan, the Collector helps keep her friends and the Archive House safe, and is shown gratitude by Amity once Belos is defeated and destroyed.

Episodes

Willow and Gus reject the idea and the three try multiple times to sneak back into school. As Crow Phones arrive to take Willow and Gus to their angry parents, Amity appears and apologizes for not doing anything. At the dance, Amity thanks Luz for taking her place as she is called to face Grometheus. At first he turns into Eda, but quickly changes into her mother and reacts negatively to the Demon Realm. Luz, in a state of panic, runs out of Hexside as Grometheus and the students follow her. As she is cornered, Amity jumps in front of her and Grometheus takes the form of a shadowy figure and takes a note out of Amity's dress pocket and rips it.

Luz finally regained her spirits back after having a heart-to-heart with her mother. In addition, another factor that weighs heavily on Luz's mind is the loss of her father, Manny, whom she still grieves for, even years after his passing. It's also been implied on occasion that much of Luz's creativity, eccentricity, optimism, and love of fantasy, especially her fondness for the Azura franchise, which was the final gift her father gave her, is a means of coping with his loss.

A stained glass window above the door gives the impression of a large orange demon eye. During the first episode of Season 3, Luz wears an orange beanie with a light blue pin with a darker eye on it, as well as a pin of the bisexual flag. She continues wearing Eda's jacket (which has a darker beige patch on the right sleeve), a light blue shirt with a white stripe, long brown drawstring pants and red sneakers with white details and stars on the side.

After meeting and receiving wisdom from the Titan in the In Between Realm, Luz would finally make peace with her previous mistakes and was finally able to let go of her guilt over accidentally helping Belos in the past. Finally freed from these emotions, her previously eccentric and optimistic personality showed through once again, which proved essential in allowing her to master the Titan's powers and defeat Belos for good. This demonstrated that as compassionate and forgiving as Luz can be, her empathy has limits, to the point where she's willing to let enemies that she deems beyond redemption die. While she didn't participate in stomping Belos to death, she did nothing to prevent it, knowing that he didn't deserve any kindness or forgiveness she otherwise shows to others. In season two, it is shown that Bump openly enjoys Luz's presence at the school but is forced by the Blights to expel her, Gus, and Willow, despite not wanting to. In the epilogue, Bump has retired from being the principal of Hexside, and is last seen watering his plants.

Gus creates illusions of himself and Luz to distract from the pits tendrils and they escape, damaging the room in the process. However, they run into Eda and Bump, who has agreed to let Luz attend Hexside the following semester, berates Luz for her actions and threatens to recent hire acceptance until Gus takes full responsibility. When sees the monster, King chases it into a closet only to discover that the Snaggleback is just a harmless monster, contradicting his books. The real creature arrives and eats Snaggleback and begins to chase King, who fleeing is led by Luz hides in Eda's room so the beast can't find her and is soon joined by King, who informs her the Snaggleback is not the monster. There, King sees a piece of a tag that was missing from the elixir that Luz was going to drink, and upon joining the pieces together they discover that the elixir was to "keep the curse at bay", thus discovering that Eda is in fact the beast, and in turn that it has a curse.

Upon noticing, the light show is almost over and the Collector is soon to leave, Luz leads the others in waving goodbye to the star child as they make their departure, in gratitude for the stunning display. Sometime later, the group returns to the Owl House with Raine, whereupon they are reunited with the Collector, Lilith, Amity, and Camila, with Luz happily embracing and sharing a passionate kiss with her beloved girlfriend, before joyfully hugging her mother in celebration. Luz then watches as King and a nervous Eda finally introduce themselves to Camila, which results in her happily pulling them both and Luz into a warm hug, much to her daughter's happiness. The group then watches as the Collector conjures forth the collected Hooty, before restoring him to normal.

Dejected, Luz walks back to the Owl House and informs Hooty and King of what happened. Luz looks out the window and sees Willow and Gus and begs them to get her out, saying she is too good for detention. After the teacher falls asleep, the other detention track students—Jerbo, Viney, and Barcus—show her a secret room they use to secretly learn magic and show her a heavily vandalized portrait of the room's creator. Just then, Willow and Gus come in and the others over hear them saying Luz thinks she is too good for detention and they turn on her. Luz leaves with her friends as The Inspector, really a Basilisk, drains the students and staff of their magic.

After the meeting, Eda gives Luz her newly carved palisman, an egg, and Luz explains she wanted her palisman to choose their own form. She questions if Eda is really okay with the plan, to which Eda says not really but she thinks it is the best chance they have at stopping the Draining Spell. As they get ready to head out, Luz and King hug Eda goodbye and she makes Raine promise to watch out for Eda. When Luz wakes up one morning, she realizes it is the anniversary of her father's death and she is upset that she cannot continue the tradition of placing flowers at his grave, Luz distracts herself by finding new glyph combinations and working on a new portal. When Amity arrives and explains how her father would not let her compete in the Bonesborough Brawl, Luz thinks she can use this as an opportunity for an alternative to her tradition.

L-Shaped Kitchen Layout: 20+ Design Ideas and Tips

l shaped kitchen design

The L-shaped kitchen layout is the most widely used residential kitchen layout — and for good reason. It has the ability to take a small or medium-sized kitchen and make it functional for multiple family members, regardless of your kitchen's dimensions. This is the most practical way to use L-shaped kitchen ideas, and the most popular. By running one side of the L under a window you help to balance the other side, which houses the cooker, cooker hood and cabinets. It is the ultimate lesson in how to renovate a property, adding a modern dimension while honoring the building’s past.

Corner cabinets

Positioning your L-shaped kitchen design around a window or set of doors – we love the look of aluminium frames – is a great choice if you want your space to be flooded with light. From an aesthetic viewpoint, small L-shaped kitchens can be made to seem larger by opting for pale or neutral-colored cabinetry, which gives an impression of space. Deep kitchen color schemes do the opposite, seeming to contract the room, but they are also warming so work well in larger kitchens. This layout utilizes the two adjoining walls of a room to allow a continuous flow of countertops and cabinets, keep the rest of the space free for an island and dining table.

Incorporate an island

l shaped kitchen design

Just like the name sounds, an L-shaped kitchen layout is defined by two perpendicular walls — one longer and one shorter that meet to form an L. Although L-shaped kitchens work best in narrow spaces, they also work well with an island in bigger rooms, as seen here. You will need at least 3 feet around the perimeter of any central furniture to make this layout work for you. L-shaped kitchens are one of the most ergonomically accurate kitchen designs in terms of practical and efficient workflow. In a large space, L-shaped layouts can incorporate every element for a hardworking yet sociable family space.

Best Countertops For Families (Kid-Friendly Materials)

Although L-shaped kitchen ideas work with the style and size of most homes, they can be especially beneficial in those with open-plan kitchens. L-shaped layouts work particularly well in narrow kitchens, with one longer run of cabinets and a shorter return creating a functional layout. To maximize the potential of this design, consider adding a long island to mimic a hardworking, galley kitchen – this will boost storage and preparation possibilities. You could also extend the L-shaped return, as shown in this kitchen, to fit in a corner seating nook, transforming the narrow dimensions into a multi-zone space.

To counter these yellow tones, the all-white cabinets allow you to neutralize the warm wood tones used in the space. Small L-shape culinary layout look bigger when they are designed to be light and bright. This space manages to pull it off thanks to the light blue painted walls and overall lighter color scheme. The cabinets used are all white with paneling details and is topped with black polished granite countertops.

Kitchen Layout Ideas That Work

When you're searching for kitchen ideas, keeping in mind the shape of your space when designing will ensure you end up with a space that works wonderfully. The cabinets are laminated in a light-beige high-gloss laminate and topped with beige resin countertop. It also features integrated under-cabinet lighting and compact appliances perfect for the size of the space. Corner spaces may seem awkward but in reality, they have lots of potential in terms of design. A corner sink, for example, frees up counter space, thus allowing the extra area to be used for other tasks.

A table and chairs fits neatly into the kitchen, while still zoning it off from the rest of the room. Whatever the size of your kitchen, the beauty of L-shaped kitchen ideas lies in the simplicity and flexibility. And the ease with which it can be adapted to suit practical requirements and different design tastes, too. Planning a kitchen takes a lot of work - after all, you want somewhere which functions with ease while being aesthetically pleasing at the same time.

Factor in an island, if space allows

To maximize the potential of a narrow room, consider adding a long, slim island unit to echo the longer bank of cabinets – but do make sure you have enough space to comfortable move and work around. Using two L-shaped units opposite each other creates a harmonious symmetry that’s visually pleasing and connects every element of the kitchen for an intimate mood. In this kitchen, the use of wrap-around pure white kitchen ideas – on cabinets, walls and countertops – allows the geometry of the kitchen to be the star of the show. In this picture, an average-sized culinary space boasts a great combination of warm-tone wood colors. For the floors, it uses golden walnut, which matches the golden yellow granite countertop and the yellow-beige paint of the walls.

To maximize functionality and storage, the solution was to mirror both runs of units with a large L-shaped kitchen island. Many small kitchen ideas involve taking into account L-shaped kitchens, so it's worth knowing these regardless of the size of your space. An industrial-style L-shape culinary space which uses natural weathered wood for the drawer faces and white solid surface for the countertop. The gray walls and hammered metal sheet add to the industrial aesthetic of the space, while the exposed wooden beams, warm lighting and wooden butcher’s block add a touch of warmth to the space. A large L-shape culinary area with the grandeur and elegance of classic kitchens, but equipped with modern appliances. It uses natural cream-colored stone tiles for the floors, and off-white cabinetry with classical Corinthian detailing.

L-shaped kitchens also provide plenty of options for a functional kitchen work triangle, or the space between your sink, stove, and refrigerator. A work triangle acts as a guide to help lay out your kitchen workspaces and traffic paths. A general rule of thumb is that each leg of the triangle should measure between 4 and 9 feet for optimal kitchen efficiency.

If the main color of your house exterior is a shade of gray, you can use several complementary colors to create the perfect color scheme. Dabble in subtle color blocking by painting the trim in turquoise, the window shutters in royal blue, and the siding in white.

White + Brown + Wood

The hue changes subtly in different lighting conditions, so you get subtle elegance indoors and out no matter the time of day. Sherwin-Williams’ Grizzle Gray (7068) exterior house paint is the main color that is perfect for achieving a modern look with a classic gray tone. The primary color’s neutral hue pairs beautifully with an aqua front door, providing an exciting contrast and bringing out subtle variations in the primary color. Whether you’re dealing with siding, brick, stucco, or other exterior materials, this exterior paint will provide you with the quality coverage needed for a flawless finish. Cityscape’s LRV value of 22 offers a beautiful gray that contrasts nicely with crisp white trim and black shutters. Look again and you’ll find that another dose of darker gray tones have been chosen for the trim color and that the white just remains an accent.

This cool muted hue crossed with a deep mossy green brings the colors of nature to your home exterior. We specifically love how the entire design is being given a warm touch through the natural wooden panels by the garage. Take immersing yourself in nature to the next level with a forest green home exterior color. To avoid blending the home into its environment too much, paint the top half forest green and the lower half white, as Marshall Watson Interiors did on this Michigan home. A bit of a departure, Shou Sugi Ban is part of the James Hardie Dream Collection. If you’re thinking about trying fiber cement siding with a unique color, Shou Sugi Ban gives a home a bold sense of character.

Observe Lighting and Exterior Paint Colors

We recommend using Samplize 9″x14.75″ real paint peel-and-stick samples on your home’s exterior in direct sunlight. View the samples during different times of the day and lighting conditions for best results. Consider the color of your roof when choosing gray exterior house colors. Gray is a versatile hue and looks excellent against lighter and darker roofs, but it’s best to test the color before committing to it. Additionally, its 35.6 LRV makes this medium gray paint color even more striking against bright white trim or other light colors on a house’s exterior.

Medium Grey, White, & Dark Grey

The secret to painting your home’s exterior is more than just finding one single exterior paint color. It’s finding the right paint color combination for exterior, trim and home accents like garage doors, window shutters and the front door. Our color and design experts have curated mini palettes around 14 of our most popular exterior paint colors—use them to boost curb appeal and give your home a fresh new look. A brown palette can also work well with modern grey house exterior color schemes, as long as the color usage appears intentional and organized. A. Many homeowners use the same color on their window shutters as the paint color on their front door.

Kendall Charcoal HC-166 stands out among other best gray paint colors because of its hue variety. With an LRV of 14.61, it’s a dark earthy gray with a beautiful mix of brown and green undertones. Its versatility makes it perfect for any home, from New England beach cottages to modern Arizona estate homes.

From modern grey house exterior color schemes to eclectic combinations and understated palettes, let this list of grey paint ideas inspire your next home update. There are many wonderful design options that show off modern grey house exterior color schemes. Contact Allura today to find all the grey siding products you need to bring these styles to life. As with paint colors, stain offers a wide range of tones and shade, each of which can revive your home's exterior. Wood stains in midrange hues, in particular, work well on a variety of home styles. As with exterior wood paint colors, it's best to sample the stain on a swath of exterior wall to see how the color looks and feels throughout the day.

We’ve listed them starting with the one that appeared on nearly every list we reviewed. It’s a color we’ve used (and love!) but were surprised to see it float to the very top. Choosing the right exterior house color for your home can heighten your curb appeal while highlighting your personal style. The mass of your home determines the range of color choices for your exterior. For example, a very large house in a very dark color might look too imposing; a tiny house that's painted too light might seem to float away in the landscape. This midsize house is a good example of using a single midrange hue in a complementary way without being overpowering.

If you're building new or remodeling your exterior, consider all the shapes and sizes of brick to create an accent feature rather than relying solely on paint for adding color. Here, the pattern on the brick section of the front facade is nearly mosaic-like. Functional features, such as drain pipes or front steps, can be a wonderful way to include different colors or materials.

Most homeowners assume those hues have to be distinctly different, but this monochromatic house proves otherwise. Here, light gray is the dominant color, while a medium tone accents the wood archway over the front door. A deeper shade of gray around the windows and doors supplies the final accent. Hunter-green shutters and shake shingles stand out against this home's soft sage-green siding. Green garage doors continue the nature-inspired exterior color scheme, while copper light fixtures pick up the amber hues of the surrounding stone.

The color contrast emphasizes the design and adds a patterned element to the facade. Continue the two-tone look with a black garage door, house numbers, and wall sconces. It works well with a variety of home styles, it minimizes the imposing facades of very large homes, and it allows the landscape to stand out with its texture and color variation.

And as you’ll see, there are plenty of reasons that greige can be a smart & stylish choice. The perfect combination of gray and burnt umber emphasize the grandeur of this old home. We love the fact that the gray has a red undertone to it, which perfectly matches the brick facade.

This home does not include any siding, and instead settles for a flat, slightly textured appearance painted in a concrete gray. While the gray paint colors are offset by the white trim, they also give the decorative stone at the base a chance to shine. The key to creating the perfect modern grey house exterior color scheme is to pair your pick of grey with the right features to complement its dimension. This means incorporating texture, color contrast, and alternative material choices into the mix. It lends itself to pairings with brighter colors like Benjamin Moore’s Galápagos Turquoise.
